Your Right to a Good Faith Estimate
If you do not have health insurance or do not plan to use your insurance to pay for services, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining the expected cost of your care.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the expected cost of psychotherapy services when you schedule services or upon request.
If you schedule services at least 3 business days in advance, a Good Faith Estimate will be provided in writing within 1 business day after scheduling. If you schedule services at least 10 business days in advance, it will be provided within 3 business days after scheduling. You may also request a Good Faith Estimate before scheduling services, and one will be provided within 3 business days of your request.
Because therapy is individualized, the frequency and length of treatment may vary. Your Good Faith Estimate will be based on the information reasonably available at the time and may be updated if your expected services change.
If you receive a bill from a provider that is at least $400 more than that provider's Good Faith Estimate, you may have the right to dispute the bill.
